Welcome to the Minnetonka Choir Website!

Minnetonka has a proud vocal music tradition, and one of Minnesota's strongest grade 5-12 choral programs. Minnetonka choirs offer the highest level of education and performance, and the opportunity to be part of a very special community of students engaged in creative expression while forming new friendships.  Minnetonka choir is a great place to belong at an important time in students' lives.  Minnetonka choir students at all levels find they've become part of something significant, part of the magic of creating something bigger than any one of them can do on their own, something they're proud of--all within a diverse community of friends they can count on throughout their school years.  Minnetonka choir enables students to develop their talents, become part of a close-knit community, and gain the invaluable brand of poise  and confidence developed only through public performance.

Vocal Support for Minnetonka Choirs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting choral development for all Minnetonka students.

Children who sing in choruses have academic success and valuable life skills

* According to Chorus America's most recent survey; The Chorus Impact Study.

Download Chorus America 2009 Imact Study Report

Excerpt from the report, Finding 3:

  • Children who sing in choruses get significantly better grades in school than kids who have never been part of a choir, according to their parents, and substantial majorities of parents with children in choirs say their child’s ability or performance in English/language arts, mathematics, and academics overall improved after their child joined a choir.
  • Parents whose children sing in choirs are significantly more likely to report that their child has many other qualities conducive to learning and development than parents of children who don’t sing, including, among others, good memory, good practice and homework habits, and high levels of creativity. Sizable majorities of member’s parents credit joining a choir for achievement in these areas and more.
  • Parents of children in choirs are significantly and consistently more likely to report that their children are
better team players and have more advanced social skills than parents of children who’ve never participated. An overwhelming majority of these parents date improvements in these areas to when their child joined a choir, and also say their child’s ability to manage his/her emotions and/or read the emotions of others improved after they became choral singers.
